Celery is the new health hype. For most health seekers, celery juicing has been hard to miss, especially 2018 and getting stronger leading to 2019. There has also been a notable push from a guy who calls himself the medical medium, this guy claims to be somewhat psychic between food and illness. There is also documentary about juicing in general called fat, sick and nearly dead which is pushing some people closer to their blenders and juicers.
Celery has a number of nutritional benefits, nothing too special, its just like any other vegetable I guess ,some of these including vitamins A, C, K and folate. Celery also has minerals such as magnesium, potassium, calcium and sodium, just to mention a few. Some of these qualities give celery its antioxidant and anti inflammatory properties. The question is, what puts celery apart from the rest of the vegetables, as it has now acquired a superfood status .Celery is 95% water and one can not miss the fibre and salt. The claim is that celery can heal a vast number of diseases and is most effective when juiced not blended or eaten any other way, it is also advised to drink the juice by itself on an empty stomach. Some of the diseases celery is claimed to heal are diabetes, blood pressure, eyes problems and even claims of fighting cancer.

I was impressed by the list of claims celery has to its name, so I tried a cleanse, drinking celery juice only for the first three days, and another 11 days of drinking celery juice every morning on an empty stomach, and I would continue with my normal diet and routine the rest of the day. I must say I did notice an increase in my energy levels through the day, I did not crave for snacks I normally munch, and my skin looked clearer at 2 weeks. My question is was it the celery or generally the change in diet from drinking coffee with sugar each morning to 16 ounces of celery juice. Well optimistically maybe something happened internally with my heart, bladder, liver and what else’s as it is claimed, I don’t know.

As someone who has tried a lot of diets for many years, my conclusion on celery and diet in general is that, the key and source to most ailments and disease is inflammation, which I believe that there are triggers, including food, stress, environment and much more .Celery is mostly water and salt so it hydrates the body and the salt help move the bowels, flushing out toxins. The fact that celery does not trigger inflammation in the digestive tract makes it somewhat a winner, but most importantly is celery superfood/miracle food or not, well i believe that all food is not created equal and celery has its part to play in healthy diet, just like any other vegetable, fruit or food substance.
